Sweet Sweet Times

The results of the chest x-ray were not so good. There was a return of liquid in the right lung lining. The liquid contained cancer cells. Also, the left lung was still cloudy after the antibiotics. Susan is given drugs to reduce the liquids and she is still breathing with good air exchange. Susan is comfortable and the pain is controlled. When she is up and awake she is a wild cat but most of the day today she was sleepy. We will see what the evening brings. Susan continues to impact the lives of even the hospital staff. She is loved by the nurses in the oncology ward. Is that a surprise to anyone. For now we continue to have a sweet sweet time with Susan.

Dawson our black lab, Susan's favorite dog made a guest appearance last night at the hospital. Can you tell that Susan was surprised and excited! There is a black lab in there somewhere. This was a moment she really cherished. Dawson is a loyal companion to Susan. He was excited too.

Susan's brother Bob and sister Jeanne came in on Wednesday night. Here we all are with Susan playing games. Susan won about half the games. One favorite nurse, Joi, also looks on.

Bedside is Mary and Leah. Susan has had a big appetite. Keep in contact with us. Thanks for your prayers and support.

Aunt Susan, Uncle Doug and Cousins,

We are praying for you. What a beacon of light you are in otherwise troubling seas. Truly, you have inspired many people beyond your comprehension. We are constantly amazed by your strength and joy! What wonderful pictures. That smile can not be stopped!!

God’s peace to you,

Oh Doug- You are a wonder-- with your care and attention to Susan's needs even before she realizes that something would be nice-- its there.....We've missed our talks with Susan so very much. But Doug and Diane Shaw and now Bob and Jeanne are filling us in with the precious details. The pictures speak "a thousand words". With love and prayers and longing,

Susan you are the most beautiful person I have ever met. The Lord shines through you no matter what! Doug, what an example of true love and understanding you are. The Lord Bless you both as you walk through this together.
Psalm 70:4-5
4) "Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; and let those who love Thy salvation say continually, "Let God be magnified."

Susan, Doug & family,

I love how whenever we see a picture of Susan she's always wearing a big smile, that's her!! Just as Nick said that one day to her, she's the only one he knows that can tell you about all the discomfort and pain she's experiencing but she tells you with a smile on her face. To me that's someone who has a world of peace in her heart and a pure joy for life and her blessings!! I absolutely love and adore you, Susan!!!!!!! You are such an inspiration to me that I will never look at things the same again. I pray for your continued comfort. My prayers and thoughts are with the entire family as they endure this together. Doug - thank you so much for taking the time to keep us all informed.

With many hugs and all my love,
Lisa

I was thinking what a blessing it has been to have this place to go to and find out how Susan, Doug and the children are doing. Thank you so much Doug! I love you Susan! God has blessed our family by knowing yours. Love and prayer, Jeri Herald and the Goods
