Not so good night, good day

Susan was restless through the night with short periods of sleep. Shortness of breath and pain being the issues. Small amounts of morphine are now being given through the iv and that really helps with the shortness of breath. But as a result, she slept pretty good through the morning and was given a pass to go home for the late afternoon into the evening. Our children were going to go bowling with Uncle Bob and Aunt Jeanne, and Susan wanted to go and watch them bowl. So she did. Most of us had not bowled in years so it was pretty comical. After that we went to our home in Dalton Gardens, where a big family dinner was planned. We dressed up and had a pretty good feast put on by our daughters. Shared memories of Susan, she shared some too, the best she could. She had a delightful time and we made it special for her. She actually had quite a bit of energy through the evening including a short nap. Back to the hospital by ten and she went right to bed. She got her usual meds for the night and should sleep pretty sound. She is comfortable and managing the pain. Thanks to all the good care at Kootenai Medical Center, that includes RN's Joi, Carol and Cindy. God had been so faithful to bring us caring nurses. Time to go to sleep, good night.

I am so glad to hear that you get to spend quality time together and what a blessing to be able to go home, even for a short time. As I look out my window and see your home, Your family is always in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you again Doug and Susan for keeping us current through this blog.

Hello Aunt Susan, Uncle Doug, and cousins: How nice it is that you, Aunt Susan, were able to come home for an evening and enjoy a meal prepared with such love. I'm so happy that you have such great nurses, too. They are so priveledged to work with you and your family! It's amazing how many people will be able to look to your strength for support when we go through challenging times. I'm so thankful for this blog that Uncle Doug set up, for it's a real source of love and connection with you. May you sleep well tonight,
Erin

Legacy

This poem is written
For a dear friend
Who has inspired us all
Right to the end

For many years
You have given to others
You have shown what it means
To be a wife and a mother

Now it is our turn
Let us try to repay
The countless blessings
That you give us each day

You have fought the good fight
You will finish the race
Through your trust in Jesus
Full of love and grace

Your courage and strength
Is not of your own
It is God who sustains you
As you face the unknown

We won't give up hope
In these last days
Though the trial's not over
You never cease to amaze

As you fight your last battle
Beacon in the night
A true woman of God
Your legacy shines bright

So many love
Susan Vetsch, a dear friend
Who has inspired us all
Right to the end...

With love,
Whitney
